Quarantine Diary: 9 Months
NINE MONTHS.
We have now been voluntarily isolating in our apartment for nine months. I can count on one hand the number of times I have been around other people since the middle of March. In spite of what should be considered a monumental effort, more people are dying and getting infected with COVID-19 today than ever.
Nine months of this.
The good news is: we’re getting used to this.
The bad news is: we’re getting used to this.
Here is where I typed out a whole furious rant about how absurd it is that the United States is such a disaster, but then I deleted it. That’s not what this article is about.
My boyfriend and I have been isolating for nine months, in order to keep ourselves healthy. Other than voting for a new administration who will actually take action, staying home is essentially all we (as individuals) can do at the moment. Avoiding people who won’t wear masks, avoiding crowds and indoor gathering, and avoiding risk as much as possible is the best way to keep ourselves safe from this disease.
